Sword Ego Info Empty
PostSubject: Sword Ego Info   Sword Ego Info EmptyTue Nov 15, 2011 11:30 pm

Reference: A Note on ADACT and Weapon Selection | Kaeporo's Post

The Bastard Sword is the preferred one-handed sword ego.

Bastard Sword: Highest average damage, lowest critical, does not require NX to repair
Gladius: Second highest critical, lowest average damage, does not require NX to repair
Muramasa: Highest critical, second highest maximum damage, essentially requires NX to repair

The Muramasa is likely the best all-around if you can afford it. Otherwise, your best bet is the Bastard Sword.
(Basically Muramasa is one hell of an ego? While it sports slightly lower maximum and average damage than the Bastard Sword ego, its greatly improved critical is significant enough to make up that minor damage loss. Worst case scenario you would have to switch a critical enchant to a damage enchant once you passed your critical checkpoint.)

- Critical is averaged when duel wielding
- Damage is additive when duel wielding

In order to hit your critical checkpoint (preferably 90-130% critical) you'll obtain the greatest ADACT if you enchant your gear for critical as it isn't averaged between the two weapons and choose weapons with high average damage.

The Spirit Gladius is actually worse for critical hits than the Bastard Sword. A large portion of its average damage comes from its above-average minimum damage rating. Average critical damage is calculated using the following formula.

(Max-Min)0.8+Min+(Max*Critical modifier*Critical Rate)

If you duel wield with an R-type Battle Sword, your critical modifier will increase. This increases the weight of maximum damage while decreasing the weight of minimum damage.

Essentially, without critical hits, maximum damage is worth 80% of your damage range while minimum damage is worth 20% of your damage range (assuming that you have 80% balance with the equipped weapon). Once you factor in critical hits, maximum damage starts to account for more than 80% of your damage range. Improving the critical modifier or critical rate will increase the importance of maximum damage.

So based on this and after talking with people... It really boils down to 2 crit vs. 2 max. Cutlass is out of the question. I don't need 60+ crit (although it's really nice) and max is considerably low compared to military and mura.

decisions decisions...
